Watson & Wolfe
Our story started in late 2016, when it was my intention to use genuine leather. Having spent more than 10 years at luxury brand Aspinal of London, creating a leather brand seemed like a natural path to take.
It was during the research and development phase in early 2017, that I uncovered the facts and saw the reality of the leather industry. I had been ignorant to the effects of the 250+ chemicals used in the leather tanning process and their impact on our planet. The demand for leather continues to grow and as a result we continue to cause damage to people, rivers and ecosystems on a daily basis. This demand means we have to farm more and more animals too, and currently over 1.4 billion animals are used for leather every year.
This was a turning point for me and I decided to change direction completely. I believe we have an opportunity and an obligation to seek out alternatives, and to produce luxury accessories which are not only safer for people, but more environmentally friendly for our planet.
At Watson & Wolfe we seek to use to low impact materials. Our collection is made using innovative corn leather, cork leather and a high quality microfiber leather. Not only do our base materials have a significantly lower environmental footprint, but our wallets and bags are lined with a luxurious woven fabric made from 100% recycled plastic.
We are focused on providing an environmentally friendly product, so we do not use any animal-based leathers or components. The processes in leather production are harmful to people, and cause irreparable damage to ecosystems and to the environment. Our materials and our collection are made in an ethical supply chain by companies who are as eco-conscious as we are, and everything is 100% cruelty free and vegan.
